It was the first type of program of its kind on Long Island. Shortly after the first summer of its opening, clones of it was seen crossing Long Island over the following summers. Two other locations, but not the only ones, were Heckscher State Park and Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai. These programs are funded by all levels of government.
Security has been provided by the Suffolk County police's C.O.P.E. division. However, budgetary constraints for the officers to man the parks holding the program has reduced the amount of nights some of these events were held for the summer of 2009. So, please contact your local politicians to support these programs.
SVYP is made up of the officers of the Board Directors - President and Executive Director: Phillip Sciarillo, 1st Vice President: Ray Hansen, Secretary and Web Manager: Mark Jama (a Volunteer since 1993), and Treasurer: Kim Jama. The current board members: Chris Mulligan, Rachel Sciarillo, Marlo Sciarillo, Sarah Dentel, Daniel Weglarz and Victoria Harrison.
